Derby City Partnership as a Local Strategic Partnership

Since April 2002, Derby City Partnership has been the Local Strategic Partnership for the city, delivering the National Strategy for Neighbourhood Renewal.

We developed our own local Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy to narrow the gap between disadvantaged neighbourhoods and the city as a whole.  We have been allocated £21.7m to help us improve services in the most deprived neighbourhoods.

We are also responsible for developing and delivering Derby's Local Area Agreement, a service agreement with Government to achieve our priorities for Derby.

Closer working with communities

One of the key priorities for Local Strategic Partnerships is the meaningful involvement of the community. We have received extra funds to help community and voluntary groups get involved in our work. Derby City Partnership has supported the development of Derby Community Network. This helps voluntary and community organisations, which are involved in both delivery of services and representing communities, to contribute to and influence our work.  Two representatives of the Network are on the Derby City Partnership Board and the Community Network is also represented on our main groups.

The Forum of Faiths for Derby has also been established to ensure representation of faith groups on our Board and also explore the potential for faith groups' involvement in other partnership groups.

Official recognition

As a Local Strategic Partnership we have to demonstrate our ability to:

  • act strategically
  • involve all key players
  • be action-focussed
  • manage performance
  • be efficient
  • incorporate learning and skill-sharing in our work.

Government Office for the East Midlands has identified Derby City Partnership as "the most advanced and established partnership in the region and still making progress."

Surestart, Rosehill
